Masry Road

Every Egyptian knows the move. There's no crosswalk, the traffic never stops, and the only way to the other side is to step into the road, raise your hand and trust the drivers. Mostly.

Masry Road turns that everyday adventure into a pixel-art arcade game. Weave between microbuses, taxis, tuk-tuks, donkey carts, bread bikes and whole wedding processions as you cross street after street of Cairo, Giza and Alex. How far can you get before the street gets you?

YOUR SHIBSHIB IS YOUR WEAPON
Every Egyptian mom knows its power. Throw your shibshib (the trusty house slipper) at a speeding car and the driver slams on the brakes. Then go and pick it up, because you'll need it again.

And when a wedding zaffa comes down the street, watch out for the dancing wedding gorilla. He just wants a hug and a selfie, and he will chase you across the road to get one. A well-aimed shibshib is the only thing that sends him running (and he drops a plate of molokhia on the way out).

RAISE YOUR HAND
Hold up the Hand and the drivers brake for you... for as long as your arm holds out. Time it right, read the traffic and find the gap.
