Mountain ID

Mountain ID helps you identify mountains by pointing your iPhone at them. Names appear overlaid on the landscape through your camera, with distance and elevation when you focus on a peak.

HOW IT WORKS
• Grant location and camera access when prompted
• Stand outdoors with a clear view of the sky and the peaks you want to identify
• Point your phone at the mountains in the distance
• See labels anchored to peaks in augmented reality

BUILT FOR THE OUTDOORS
Mountain ID works best outside with a clear line of sight to peaks. GPS and compass quality improve away from large metal objects and buildings. For the most accurate labels, allow the app a moment to calibrate after you arrive at your viewpoint.
DATA
Mountain information comes from OpenStreetMap community data. Coverage and detail vary by region.

Mountain ID is a tool for exploration and learning not a substitute for navigation, safety planning, or official mountaineering guidance. Always follow local rules and your own judgment in the backcountry.
