MoveTara is hostel and PG (paying guest) management software built for India. We are based in Hyderabad, hosted in Mumbai, and built by founders who lived in three different PGs while figuring out their careers. Every PG ran on the same broken stack - a Google Sheet, a WhatsApp group, and the warden's memory. MoveTara replaces that with one calm, fast app for owners, wardens, and tenants.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
• Track every tenant — name, room, rent, dues, KYC documents, vacate date — at a glance.
• Record rent payments and see who has paid, who is pending, and who is overdue.
• Log daily expenses - groceries, salaries, utilities, repairs - and see where the money goes.
• Raise and resolve complaints between tenants, wardens, and owners with a clear shared thread.
• Post announcements to all tenants in a single tap.
• Open a property-by-property dashboard with occupancy, dues, and monthly summaries.
• Export rent rolls and expense reports.
THREE ROLES, ONE APP
• Owner - see everything across your hostels. Money, occupancy, complaints, KYC.
• Warden - manage day-to-day operations. Wardens never see financial data, by design.
• Tenant - view your room, see your rent due, raise a complaint, get notified.
INDIA-FIRST DESIGN
• Indian rupee formatting with lakhs grouping (so ₹4,82,500 reads correctly, not "482500").
• Six languages: English, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Marathi.
• Phone-first sign-in.
• Designed for the tenant who is least familiar with apps, not just the most tech-savvy owner.
PRINCIPLES WE HOLD
• Built in India, for India. INR currency, GST handling, DPDP Act 2023 compliant, regional languages - not a global tool with India bolted on.
• No fake numbers. Every metric cites its cohort and time window.
• Tenants pay nothing. The platform fee is on owners - never on the people who already pay rent.
• Audit trail or it didn't happen. Rent ledgers are immutable. Every action is logged.
PRIVACY AND DATA
• Your data is stored exclusively in India (Mumbai region). No replication outside India.
• TLS 1.3 in transit, AES-256 at rest.
• KYC documents stored in private encrypted buckets - never on public URLs.
• Account deletion is available in three taps from Settings, and via a self-serve flow at movetara.com/delete-account.
• Full Privacy Policy at movetara.com/privacy.
NO ADS. NO DATA SELLING. NO TRAINING THIRD-PARTY AI MODELS WITH YOUR DATA.
WHO IT IS FOR
• Owners of student PGs, working professional hostels, and small hostel chains.
• Owners running multiple properties who need one place to look.
• Wardens who manage day-to-day operations on behalf of owners.
• Tenants who want to see their dues and pay without phone calls.
