It does not identify mushrooms for you. That's the point.
FIND
• Snap a photo in the field and pin it to the map with GPS
• Name the find yourself — you're the one identifying it
• Location, weather, and days since last rain attach automatically
• Record quantity, habitat, and your own observations
• Your spots stay private by default
EDIBILITY IS YOURS
• Give each find your own label — edible, unsure, toxic, or leave it blank
• Mycelia never sets one for you and never checks one
• Reference material is shown as what field guides say, attributed rather than asserted
• Look-alike warnings name the dangerous confusions for a species and the one feature that separates them
• Your local poison-control number, one tap away on anything you've flagged toxic
REMEMBER
• Finds collect into a dated timeline, a by-species view, and a map of your spots
• Return predictions estimate when each patch is likely to fruit again
• Open directions straight back to a spot you logged last season
• Send any find to iNaturalist when you want a human expert to look at it
OPTIONAL: AI SUGGESTIONS
• Off by default. Turn them on in Settings if you want a second opinion.
• Suggestions offer species names to go and check — never an edibility verdict
• Offered only after you've written up a find yourself, never before
• With the setting off, no photo ever leaves your phone
PRIVATE BY DEFAULT
• Your spots are yours. Nothing is shared unless you choose to share it.
• Sign in with Apple, Google, or email to back up and sync across devices — or skip the account entirely and keep everything on your phone
• Share individual finds with the community as cards, while notes and quantities stay private
• Delete your account and all its data from inside the app at any time
SAFETY
Mycelia is a notebook, not an authority. It does not identify mushrooms and it will never tell you that something is safe to eat. Mushroom misidentification can be fatal — always confirm with a printed field guide and an experienced forager before eating any wild mushroom.
