Kitab ini di kalangan pelajar sering disebut dengan Imrithi, namun nama asli kitab ini adalah ad-Durrotu al-Bahiyyah Nadzmu al-Ajurumiyyah dan sebenarnya Imrithi adalah daerah asal relatif penulisnya yaitu Amrith atau Imrith.
Nama lengkap penulis adalah Yahya bin Nur ad-Din Abi al-Khoir bin Musa al-Imrithi as-Syafi'i al-Anshori al-Azhari, panggilan akrab Syarof ad-Din. Beliau adalah seorang ulama abad ke 16 M yang merupakan ulama al-Azhar. Julukannya yang lain adalah an-Nadzim, karena kepiawaiannya membuat nadzom. Dan karyanya berupa nadzom yang paling terkenal tentunya kitab Imrithi yang kita bahas disini.
