Description by Kasper M. de Thurah(from the App Store)
Know when the aurora is coming — and when it's actually worth going outside.
Nordlys combines real-time data from NOAA, GFZ Potsdam, the Norwegian Meteorological Institute and NASA into one honest answer: your chance of seeing the northern lights from where you stand, tonight, hour by hour. It accounts for geomagnetic activity, darkness, cloud cover and moonlight — not just the Kp number.
TONIGHT • Aurora score for your location, continuously updated • Hour-by-hour view of tonight's conditions with the best window • Moon, clouds and darkness computed for your exact spot • Hand-picked dark-sky viewpoints nearby • Solar storm banner when a CME is heading for Earth • Share the magic: send tonight's chance, the best night or your aurora photo as a share card
AURORA PRO • Star map in AR: 5,000 stars, 38 constellations, the Moon, the planets and the auroral oval itself — where they actually are • Smart alerts: your own Kp threshold, lead time and quiet hours • Smart sky filter — never an alert for aurora behind clouds or in daylight • "Happening now" alert when the solar wind turns favorable in real time • CME warnings 1–3 days before the storm arrives (NASA-modeled) • 7-day forecast, 3-day chart and 27-day outlook • Real-time map with the auroral oval across the Nordics • Pro dashboard: solar wind, IMF Bz, Hp30, solar flares and hemispheric power • Live webcams from Tromsø, Abisko, Kiruna and Svalbard • Live Activity with Dynamic Island during active storms
Plus: a complete photo guide for iPhone, camera and other phones, home and lock screen widgets, and an AR compass showing where the aurora will appear.
