A feed of mental-math puzzles you can swipe like a timeline. Tap a card and it gives you the answer, and then the shortcut that gets you there without a pen.
MADE, NOT STORED
Numeos has no list of questions to run out of. Every card is built on your phone at the moment you reach it, from 58 problem types across 10 topics, so the feed simply does not end. Scroll back and the cards are where you left them; tomorrow brings a fresh set.
THE TRICK, NOT JUST THE ANSWER
An answer on its own teaches you nothing. Every card names the shortcut behind it (break the tens, anchor at 50, build it from 10%, pay the complement, take the gap out first) and opens onto the worked steps one at a time, plus a short explanation of why the shortcut is allowed at all.
A TEST EVERY TENTH CARD
Nine cards, then a quick three-option test on one of the nine you have just read. Being asked about something you have just seen is the point: a fresh question would only measure what you already knew. The wrong options are near-misses built by nudging the real answer, so there is not much in guessing.
PRACTICE
A five-question round, three options each, scored at the end. Get one wrong and it shows you the answer and the first step towards it, then offers the full working.
POINTS, TIERS, A STREAK
Points come from the tests in the feed and nowhere else. A test pays 10 points at Gentle, up to 50 at Expert, and answering quickly earns up to that much again on top. Points carry you from Bronze to Diamond. Reading cards and playing Practice do not score, but they keep your streak, your daily goal and your seven-day chart.
IT WORKS ON A PLANE
The feed, Practice, your saved cards, your streak and your numbers all run on the device with no network at all. Nothing about a puzzle is ever fetched, because nothing about a puzzle is stored. Turn the phone to airplane mode and the app does not notice.
NO ACCOUNT NEEDED
No sign-up wall, no email to confirm, nothing to skip past on first launch. If you want to, you can sign in with Apple, the only method offered, and that adds three things: your streak follows you to a new phone, you appear on the global board under a name you choose, and you can join a group and play its league. Never sign in and nothing ever leaves the phone.
AND, IF YOU WANT COMPANY
Groups: up to thirty people behind a six-character code, playing a season of ten live matches. Whoever starts the group picks the night, the hour and how often it comes round (every day, every week or every month) and the difficulty, from elementary to Fields Medal, so the questions fit the room. Fixtures run live in the group's time zone: ten questions served one at a time, with the table moving while you watch, and a lobby to talk in for the ten minutes before the first question. Nothing said in the lobby is ever stored: when the doors close, the conversation is gone. Reminders come an hour and five minutes before a match, and two easy puzzles a day, hours apart, all scheduled on your phone; Settings switches them off. Entirely optional, and the rest of the app never asks about it.
