Description
This Department of Public Health (DPH) Opioid Program app is meant to be used as a resource for opioid prevention and recovery information in Northwest Georgia (NWGA). Users will have access to information regarding how to safely dispose of prescription drugs, as well as different drug disposal locations and where to specifically seek recovery. Users will also find many news articles on topics such as: different types of opioids; the safe use of opioids including not mixing them with other drugs or alcohol; the dangers of illicit opioids (illegal opioids such as heroin); the risks of using “street” fentanyl which often contains deadly levels of the drug and is sometimes mixed with heroin or cocaine; how to help a person overdosing on opioids and much more. Included are FAQs, checklists and a video about the importance of naloxone.
The NWGA DPH Opioid Program app includes an electronic guide (eGuide) library full of downloadable PDFs that provide information and education on opioid use and HIV transmission, as well as on other health topics such as living with hepatitis C and the Covid-19 pandemic.
