Ocren: Book Quotes & Notes

A reading-notes app that keeps the passages that stayed with you, just by taking a photo.
Tap Add and the camera opens right away. Photograph the page and select the part you want. Ocren recognizes Japanese (vertical or horizontal) and English text and saves it to your shelf. No retyping.

■ Photograph a page, keep a memo
• Tap Add for the camera → select the area → the text is transcribed automatically
• From the camera screen you can also pick a photo from your library or type instead
• A passage that runs onto the next page: photograph the next page too and keep it as one memo
• Several memos from one photo: select one area after another
• The page number is read from the photo, too
• The recognized text is kept as it is; whether to correct it is up to you
• Add your thoughts (a note), the page number, and one of 7 colored flags to each memo

■ Recognition stays on your device
• All text recognition runs on your iPhone
• Neither your photos nor the recognized text are sent anywhere
• Works without a connection, even in airplane mode

■ Your own bookshelf
• Your covers stand on a wooden shelf, and you can see at a glance what you want to read, are reading, and have read
• Add books by scanning the ISBN barcode or searching by title or author
• Track each book as Want to read, Reading, or Read
• Keep memos for each book, and search the memos inside

■ So you don't forget
• Quote of the day brings back one of your memos at random
• A daily reminder delivers a passage at the time you choose
• Look back on books read, memos saved, and your progress over time in charts

■ From everyone's bookshelves
• Rankings compiled from readers' bookshelves
• See the most shelved books, the books with the most memos, the books most finished this month, and the most wanted books
• Who added a book is never shown

■ Make a quote card and share it
• Turn a favorite passage into a quote card with the book's title and author
• Use paper, wood, or one of your own photos or videos as the background (drag and pinch to frame it)
• A video background exports as a video with your card on top (the first 15 seconds). A photo can also become a 10-second video with a slow zoom
• Choose the typeface, text color, size and position, and a black or white veil
• 4:5, 9:16 (Stories) or 1:1. Share straight to Instagram, X, and more
• The photos and videos you choose never leave your device

■ Safe when you change phones
• Sign in with Apple or Google
• Your books and memos are saved to your account and carry over to a new phone

Available in Japanese and English.
