Parlimo: Toddler First Words

Your child taps the cow. It bounces and Parlimo says "cow". The word shows up in a bubble, then you hear "Moo!".

Parlimo is the book itself: a small orange book with big eyes and a ribbon bookmark. Inside are 360 pictures in 10 chapters: fruits, farm animals, vegetables, wild animals, sea animals, birds, little critters, plants and flowers, dinosaurs, and things at home. 77 animals also make their sound, and the household objects make theirs.

Parlimo speaks English, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Arabic, German, Italian and Mandarin Chinese, with pinyin. Bilingual mode chains two languages: "apple… la pomme". Handy when your family speaks more than one.

Your child has nothing to read. Everything written on screen, Parlimo also says out loud.

In the parents' corner you can record the name of a picture in your own voice, even in a language Parlimo doesn't speak. Recordings stay on the device.

There are also three small games, with no timer and no way to fail: "Where is…?", shadows, where each picture slides onto its silhouette, and "Who makes this sound?". Every picture found goes into a sticker album, and a ladybug hides on each page. When the play time you set runs out, Parlimo yawns and falls asleep.

The Farm Animals chapter is free in full, all 36 pictures. In the nine other chapters, three pictures already respond. The rest of the book unlocks with a single purchase, no subscription, from the parents' corner. Getting in means following a written instruction that little ones can't read yet. Nothing on the child's side mentions buying.
