The EU is switching to mandatory electronic invoicing. Belgium requires every VAT-registered business to send and receive structured e-invoices over Peppol since 1 January 2026, with fines for a plain PDF. France went live on 1 September 2026, and small businesses must issue e-invoices from 1 September 2027. Germany follows in 2027 and 2028, and EU-wide cross-border e-invoicing arrives in 2030.
