Write and draw with Apple Pencil using three tools: a pen for clean handwriting, a pencil that feels like real graphite on paper, and a highlighter for emphasis. Powered by Perenne Engine — our custom-built rendering engine that captures every nuance of Apple Pencil tilt and pressure for strokes that feel natural and alive. Each tool includes adjustable width, opacity, and line style — solid, dashed, or dotted. Pick any color with the built-in eyedropper. Switch between writing and reading mode so your palm never leaves accidental marks.
PERENNE ENGINE — BUILT FROM SCRATCH
We didn't use Apple's default drawing framework. Perenne Engine is a custom Metal-based rendering pipeline designed specifically for this app. Real scanned graphite textures. Paper grain that interacts with your strokes. Pressure-sensitive opacity that mimics a real HB pencil. Every stamp, every pixel, rendered in real time at full Retina resolution. The result: ink that feels handmade, not digital.
NOTEBOOKS THAT FEEL REAL
Create notebooks with custom 3D covers — choose from 10 colors and 5 textures: leather, linen, smooth, canvas, or denim. Choose your paper: blank, ruled, grid, or dotted, at three scales. Select from 7 background tones, from pure white to dark charcoal. Each notebook holds up to 100 pages. Flip through pages in landscape spreads or scroll one page at a time in portrait. Bookmark important pages with colored tabs and labels.
THE DESK — YOUR CREATIVE WORKSPACE
The space around your notebook is alive. Drag sticky notes, photos, and text boxes off the page onto the desk — they float outside the notebook and stay visible while you work. Keep reference images nearby, jot ideas on sticky notes, or place labels around your pages. It feels like a real desk around a physical notebook.
MORE THAN JUST INK
Add sticky notes to capture thoughts — write, draw, rotate, and resize them. Import photos from your gallery or take one with the camera. Draw directly on photos. Insert text boxes with formatting: bold, italic, underline, fonts, sizes, and colors. Everything can be moved, scaled, and rotated freely — on the page or on the desk.
