Respi-Rate helps healthcare professionals determine a patient's respiratory rate using manually recorded breath intervals.
Press the Lungs button each time the patient begins to inhale. Respi-Rate estimates respiratory rate from the intervals between these button presses. The application does not automatically detect breathing and does not use device sensors to identify individual breaths.

METHODOLOGY
Respiratory rate is determined from breaths recorded manually by the user.
For example, if the Lungs button is pressed at 00:00 and again at 00:05, with both presses made when the patient begins to inhale, the recorded interval is 5 seconds. This corresponds to an estimated respiratory rate of 12 breaths per minute (60 ÷ 5 = 12).
After each press, the application evaluates whether enough respiratory intervals have been collected. If the required accuracy has not been reached, additional intervals are collected.
With a regular breathing pattern, the algorithm continues collecting intervals until the estimated respiratory rate reaches an accuracy of 95% ± 1 breath per minute.
Because breaths are recorded manually, results depend on consistent button timing. Press the button at the same phase of each respiratory cycle, preferably at the beginning of inhalation.
Do not use Respi-Rate to determine respiratory rate when the patient's breathing is irregular.
Respi-Rate Pro includes a breathing regularity assessment. When this feature is used, interpret the respiratory rate only when the regularity assessment reaches 3 stars. If fewer than 3 stars are achieved, repeat the measurement.
The regularity assessment reflects the consistency of manually recorded breath intervals. It may be affected by irregular breathing or inconsistent button timing and does not represent the accuracy of the respiratory-rate determination.
The experimental I:E Assessment depends on the accuracy of the user's button presses and does not establish a diagnosis.
