Say what you want to sound like, in whatever words you think in, and RigShed builds the rig: the actual amp, cab and pedals, each with a line saying why it is there. Then change it by saying what is wrong: brighter, less gain, more room. Open any piece and take it apart like real gear.
A REAL ENGINE UNDERNEATH
• Eight amps of our own, fitted numerically against measured references rather than dialled in by ear.
• 41 pedals: gates, compressors, wahs, octave, drives, EQs, modulation, delays and reverbs.
• Five cabs, each with a microphone you can move.
• Two amps at once, in series or in parallel.
• A chain of ten blocks you can reorder, plus a looper.
• Load your own captures and impulse responses.
• 28 factory rigs, level-matched so switching compares tone, not loudness.
DESCRIBE A TONE
Describe a tone can only build from the gear that is in the app, so what it gives you behaves like gear when you turn the knobs. Nothing is sent until you agree to it, and what you type is never kept on our server.
STAGE
A view for playing standing up: the preset name in type you can read from a metre away, a big footswitch for every block, next and previous preset, tap tempo, the tuner and the looper.
THE VOCAL CHANNEL
Put a microphone in the second input and you get a second chain beside the guitar's: gate, EQ, compressor, de-esser, delay, reverb and more, in any order. Harmony listens to your guitar, names the chord and sings above it, below it, or both. Send the guitar to one output and the voice to another.
LEARN
A course that listens to you play and grades single notes, grade by grade, plus a walk through what every pedal in your rig does and why it sits where it does.
ON EVERY APPLE DEVICE YOU PLAY ON
iPhone, iPad and Mac, and an Audio Unit plug-in for your recording app.
You need an audio interface to plug a guitar in.
FREE, PRO AND STAGE
The whole tone engine is free, permanently: every amp, every pedal, every cab, as many captures as you like and three described tones to try. There is no advertising on any tier.
• Pro keeps your work: unlimited saved rigs, unlimited loops and the whole signal-chain course, and 25 described tones a month.
• Stage plays to other people: everything in Pro, plus the vocal channel in full, MIDI and expression control, separate outputs and 150 described tones a month.
Pro and Stage are auto-renewing subscriptions, monthly or yearly. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm. A subscription renews automatically unless it is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and you can manage or cancel it in your App Store account settings. Stop paying and you keep every amp, every pedal and all your rigs.
