Free and open source for personal and family use. No trial, no locked "premium" vault, no subscription.
YOUR DEVICES, YOUR CLOUD
• Your vault is encrypted files on your iPhone. Nothing leaves it unless you turn on sync.
• Sync is optional and goes through your own iCloud, Google Drive or Dropbox, which only ever stores ciphertext.
• Edits from your iPhone, Mac, Windows or Linux devices merge item by item, with no conflict dialogs.
AUTOFILL WITH FACE ID
• Fill passwords in Safari and in apps from the iOS AutoFill bar.
• Sign in with passkeys stored in Rowel (iOS 17 or later).
• Unlock with Face ID or Touch ID. Rowel locks itself when you're away and clears copied secrets from the clipboard.
EVERYTHING HAS ITS OWN PLACE
• Logins with built-in two-factor (TOTP) codes
• Passkeys
• Credit cards, identities and documents
• SSH keys, API keys and .env files as real item types, not pasted notes
• Secure notes and file attachments
• A password and passphrase generator
SCAN TO FILL
Photograph a card or a passport and Rowel reads it on your device to fill in the fields. Nothing is uploaded.
LOCKBOXES
Split one vault into lockboxes such as Personal, Work or Family. Each is its own encrypted file and can sync to its own cloud account, all behind one master password.
VAULT HEALTH
Find weak and reused passwords, and run an optional breach check that never sends your password anywhere.
SHARE PRIVATELY
Send a single item through an encrypted link that expires in 24 hours and can be revoked. The key lives only in the link.
SWITCH IN MINUTES
Import from 1Password, LastPass, Bitwarden, KeePass, Enpass, Chrome, Safari or any FIDO CXF export. Export any time to CSV, CXF or Bitwarden-compatible JSON. Your data is never locked in.
SECURITY YOU CAN CHECK
• Each lockbox is an encrypted database, and every item is sealed again inside it, so even an open vault reveals an item's secrets only when you open that item.
• Your master password is stretched with Argon2id and never leaves your device.
• The code is open source, so anyone can read exactly what it does.
Also available for macOS, Windows and Linux. Rowel is available in 10 languages.
