Same Breath is a breathing app with other people in it.
Open a room and you are breathing with whoever is already there. Nothing to book, no teacher waiting, no video call and no camera. You can see how many people are in the room, you breathe the same pattern at the same time, and you can leave on the next exhale.
People use breathing exercises to calm down, to get ready for sleep, to steady themselves before something stressful, and to focus. Doing it alone at eleven at night is the part that does not stick. These are the same exercises with the room left in: live, together, and over before you have time to talk yourself out of it.
The app asks what brings you here, calming down, sleep, focus, or no particular reason at all, and opens the right room first. You can breathe in any of them.
TWENTY BREATHING EXERCISES, ALL FREE
Box breathing (4-4-4-4), the relaxing breath (4-7-8), coherent breathing, cyclic sighing, diaphragmatic breathing, pursed lip breathing, the long exhale (7-11), the wind-down breath (4-4-8), triangle breathing, humming bee breath (bhramari), ocean breath (ujjayi), alternate nostril breathing (nadi shodhana), three-part breath, cooling breath (sitali), moon breath, sun breath, light breathing from Buteyko, lion's breath, kapalabhati and bhastrika.
Every room says what its pattern is for: calm, sleep, focus, energy, acute anxiety. Some come from pranayama, some from clinical studies, some from Navy SEAL training, and a page in the app lists where each one came from.
Every pattern draws its own shape. Box breathing draws a square, triangle breathing a triangle. Follow the light around the edge and your eyes learn the rhythm before you do.
The breathing works with no connection at all. What needs the network is the part about other people, and when that is missing the app says so rather than showing a number it made up.
ONE BREATH A DAY, EVERYBODY AT ONCE
Three times a day, on a shared clock, the same exercise opens for five minutes everywhere in the world. The room opens ten minutes early so people can gather, and everybody starts on the same inhale. Say you are coming and a countdown waits on your lock screen until it starts.
Lock your phone mid-session and the sound and voice keep time, with Pause and End on the lock screen.
A STREAK YOU CAN ACTUALLY KEEP
Practise every day, five days a week or three, whichever you can hold. Two freeze days a month cover a miss, applied on their own.
Insights draws your week as a wave beside last week's, and once there is enough to say something true, the time of day you breathe, your steadiest day and your usual length. Until then it says what it is waiting for.
WHAT IT WILL NOT DO
No messages, no profiles, no follower counts, no way for a stranger to reach you. The one thing you can send is calm.
No invented numbers either. An empty room says empty. Counts are real, or they are absent.
No ads, no subscription, no locked exercises.
BREATHING SAFELY
Some breathing is not safe with some conditions. Same Breath asks once, on your phone, and never sends the answers anywhere. Heart conditions and high blood pressure, epilepsy, glaucoma, pregnancy, panic attacks, recent surgery and flaring asthma each change which rooms you are shown. The forceful exercises carry their warning before every session, not once.
Same Breath is not a medical device and is not a treatment for any condition.
APPLE HEALTH
Turn it on and every finished session is saved to Apple Health as mindful minutes. The app asks permission to write and nothing else. It cannot read your health data, including what it wrote itself.
PRIVACY
Four separate choices, never one bundle, each off unless you turn it on. Your health answers stay on your phone, and so does your practice unless you sign in. No account is needed to breathe.
