Sandtray - Sand Tray Therapy

Sandtray is a digital version of the traditional Hakoniwa Therapy (箱庭療法 / はこにわりょうほう), where users create small worlds by shaping sand and placing miniature objects. These scenes act as a form of nonverbal expression, helping people explore thoughts, emotions, and experiences through how they arrange and interact with elements in the sandbox.
Sandtray brings the trusted sand tray therapy technique to your iPhone. Build expressive sand worlds, place miniature figures, and explore scenes — all on a realistic digital sandbox.

SAND TOOLS
Shape the sand with intuitive touch controls. Raise, dig, smooth, and flatten terrain with your fingertips. Every stroke feels natural and responsive.

OBJECT CATALOG
Browse a rich library of miniatures organized by category — animals, people, buildings, nature, vehicles, and more. Drag objects from the catalog directly onto the sand to build your scene.

INTERACT WITH YOUR SCENE
Select, rotate, resize, and reposition placed objects freely. Stack objects on top of each other. Delete what you don't need. Full undo and redo support means you can always go back.

WALK MODE
Step inside your creation with a first-person walk mode. Explore the sand world from ground level to gain new perspective on the scene you've built.

SAVE & LOAD
Create multiple boards with custom dimensions. Save your work and return to it anytime. Each board preserves the full sand terrain and every placed object.

MULTIPLAYER SESSIONS
Share your sandbox in real time. Host a cloud session and invite others with a room code or QR scan. Perfect for remote therapy sessions where a therapist observes while a client builds.

ROLES & OBSERVATION
Built-in role system supports patient, psychologist, and observer modes — enabling supervised sandplay sessions with appropriate interaction permissions for each participant.

AI ANALYSIS
Capture a session snapshot and receive AI-powered observations about the scene composition, object placement, and spatial relationships.

DESIGNED FOR THERAPISTS & CLIENTS
Whether you are a licensed therapist incorporating sandplay into your practice, a counseling student learning expressive techniques, or someone exploring sand tray for personal growth, Sandtray provides a portable, private, and accessible digital sandbox.
