SayPlay is a private, on-device speech development tracker for parents and caregivers of young children.

Tap record for 15 minutes a day. SayPlay listens, transcribes on-device, and quietly builds a picture of your child's vocabulary, talk-time, and developmental milestones. Nothing is ever uploaded.

WHAT SAYPLAY DOES

• Captures short audio sessions and transcribes them on-device using Apple's Speech framework. Audio and transcripts never leave your phone.
• Tracks unique vocabulary against age-appropriate CDI norms (50% production age, currently English).
• Logs CDC-style developmental milestones across language, social, emotional, and cognitive domains.
• Celebrates first words with a shareable card you decide whether to share.
• Surfaces talk-time trends, mean length of utterance, and tone mix per session.
• Offers gentle Play activities — short, age-tuned prompts you hand the phone to your child for.
• Filters non-target voices once you enroll your child's voice profile (three short clips, on-device only).

PRIVACY BY DESIGN

• 100% on-device speech recognition. SayPlay refuses to start if on-device dictation isn't available on your device — it will never silently fall back to Apple's servers.
• No analytics. No tracking. No account. No login. No network requests.
• Research export is opt-in, anonymized (name and birth date stripped), gated by a parental check, and saved to a file you control.
• Wiping data is permanent and instant, also gated by a parental check.

DESIGNED FOR FAMILIES

• Warm, kid-friendly visuals — but built to clinical seriousness. Milestone framing matches CDC "Learn the Signs. Act Early." domain language.
• Optional multi-child profiles.
• Locale-aware: switches recognition to the child's home language where on-device support exists.
• Accessible: VoiceOver labels, Dynamic Type, high-contrast colors.
