Scalehouse: Axle Weight Calc

You are on the scale with a ticket in your hand and one axle is heavy. Scalehouse tells you which way to slide and how many holes.

Type your steer, drives and trailer weights. The answer is on screen before you finish — the direction, the number of holes, and exactly what you will weigh after you pull the pins.

IT DOES THE REAL ARITHMETIC
Sliding the tandems changes the lever arm between your kingpin and your trailer axles. That means one hole does not always move the same weight: it moves more at a 30-foot setting than at 41, and less the further back you already are. Apps that use a fixed pounds-per-hole get this wrong. Scalehouse asks once how your trailer is built and then works it out properly — including the few hundred pounds that land on your steer axle instead of your drives, which most of them ignore completely.

IT TELLS YOU WHEN SLIDING WILL NOT HELP
Over 80,000 lb gross, no slide fixes anything — weight has to come off. Scalehouse says so instead of sending you out to pull pins for nothing. Same when no tandem position makes every axle legal at once.

IT WORKS WITH NO SIGNAL
Every calculation happens on your phone. No account, no sign-up, nothing to load first. It works in a yard with no bars, which is where you usually are.

NO ADS. NOT ONE.
Not in the free app, not anywhere.

FREE, AND HONESTLY PAID
The slide calculator is free and always will be — a driver standing at a scale gets his answer whether or not he has paid. Scalehouse Pro adds every trailer you pull, each with its own hole spacing and kingpin setting. It is bought once. It is not a subscription and it does not renew.

THE BRIDGE CHECK IS FREE TOO
A rig can be under every axle limit and under 80,000 lb gross and still be illegal, because the Federal Bridge Formula also caps what a group of axles may weigh by how far apart they are. That check is part of the verdict for everybody. An app that tells you LEGAL while holding back a check that contradicts it is selling the wrong thing.

Federal limits: 34,000 lb a tandem, 80,000 lb gross, steer from your door sticker. States can be stricter — check the state you are running in. Scalehouse is a calculator, not legal advice.
