Description
All youth and adults are automatically in the unit's main chat group. Additional chat groups can be created for adults, patrols, etc. Participation tracking for outings is automatic based on RSVPs. Optional E-Permission Slips are available, parent approves outing, leaders can review list.
Youth phone numbers are entered by their parents and are only displayed as "On File"; if parents do not wish to participate, they need only use the app once to enter phone numbers for their scout. Youth email addresses are not used. Adult email and phone numbers are not visible to youth.
For youth protection youth cannot be added to a group unless there are at least two adults. If the number of adults in a group falls below 2, youth are blocked from the group. The adults in a group should review messages regularly. An audit report is available to show when adults last reviewed messages.
Extensive event management is included. Events can be added to the calendar with optional reminder messages and an optional linked chat group. If an event requires shifts, shifts can be defined. If an event that requires supplies, like refreshments for a Court of Honor, things to bring can be defined. The RSVP process allows members to select Yes/Maybe/No, and to claim a shift and item to bring. Adults can RSVP for others in their family. Popup reports are available to show who is going, who is covering shifts, and who is bringing supplies.
E-Permissions: Parents can grant permission for their child when RSVPing for them, or any time before the event ends. If a youth RSVPs Yes, their parents are notified that permission is needed. Leaders can check the RSVP report for the outing to make sure all permissions are granted.
Although any filter can be evaded, messages are scanned for common profanity before posting. Administrators (Chatmasters) can delete offensive messages after posting; ScoutChat will prevent further distribution and send recall messages to all recipients. If necessary, members can be placed on moderation so their messages can be reviewed before posting. Members can also be placed in read-only status for any or all groups.
The troop (or crew or other youth group) can import youth and adult members from ScoutBook exports or enter them manually.
Each subscription will automatically renew 3 days before the expiration date for
the same time period. Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time before the renewal.
