Shush the noise.
Every noise app fights your room. Shush works with it. Quieter sound. Deeper sleep.
WHAT MAKES SHUSH DIFFERENT
• Works With Your Room, Not Against It
Shush listens to your space and identifies the frequencies already there — HVAC hum, traffic, fans, appliances. Then it only generates what's missing. The result: full spectrum sound at lower volume, because your room is doing some of the work. No other noise app does this.
• Helps You Fall Asleep, Then Gets Out of the Way
Research shows broadband noise helps you fall asleep 38% faster. But the same research shows continuous noise all night costs you up to 19 minutes of REM sleep. .shush's smart timer helps you drift off, gently fades, then stops — so your brain can rest properly.
• Synthesized in Real Time. No Loops. Ever.
Every moment is mathematically unique. No recordings, no samples, no repeat points. Generated live using Apple's professional audio framework at 32-bit float. Your brain can't latch onto a pattern because there isn't one.
• Adapts to Your Device
.shush detects whether you're using iPhone speakers, headphones, or Bluetooth and optimizes the output for each. Warm and full on small speakers. Deep and rich in headphones. The same audio can't sound great everywhere — so we adapt.
• Tinnitus Notch Therapy
Match your tinnitus pitch for each ear independently. Set the filter width. The app removes those frequencies from the noise, based on clinical notched sound therapy research. A genuine therapeutic tool, not a preset.
FEATURES
Four noise types: brown, pink, green, white — all synthesized, never looped
Smart sleep timer with gentle fade (research-backed approach to protect REM)
Room acoustic analysis and spectral compensation
Tinnitus frequency finder and per-ear notch filter
Guided breathing (4-7-8, box, calm, relax)
Automatic device detection and optimization
Smooth tone control (never harsh)
Background audio
Dark and light modes
No ads, ever
WHY .SHUSH EXISTS
A 2026 Penn Medicine study found that continuous pink noise at typical volume reduced REM sleep by 19 minutes per night — over 60 hours of lost REM per year. Every noise app on the market generates the same full broadband signal regardless of your room, forcing you to turn it up louder to compensate. Louder noise means worse sleep.
Shush takes a different approach. By reading your room's existing sound and only adding what's missing, it achieves effective coverage at significantly lower volume. Sound when you need it. Silence when you don't.
PERFECT FOR
Sleep — fall asleep faster with low-level broadband that fades out to protect your REM
Focus — block distractions and enter flow state
Tinnitus — clinical notch therapy with per-ear frequency matching
Baby Sleep — lower volume by design, with AAP-safe guidelines built in
Travel — every hotel room sounds different, .shush adapts
Relaxation — guided breathing paired with gentle noise to wind down
BUILT DIFFERENT
Shush uses vDSP Accelerate, Apple's professional signal processing framework. Every sample is generated using mathematically precise algorithms. Stereo channels are independently generated and decorrelated for natural spatial width. Processing is hardware-accelerated for minimal battery impact.
Sound, shaped for you.
