PREPARE A MEASUREMENT
Choose a course of 5–50 m and a separate run-in of 0–5 m, in 0.1 m increments. Record the participant, usual or maximum walking instructions, walking aid and notes. Illustrated instructions explain device positioning and the course.
USE ONE OR TWO DEVICES
With one device, hold it steadily in front of the chest or abdomen and choose manual timing or AR distance measurement.
With two devices, hold or secure the measurement device at the waist and operate it from the other device. Tap Start at the start marker and Stop at the finish marker. With no run-in, start as walking begins. Update both devices to 9.0. Screens and audio guidance support Japanese and English.
Video recording starts enabled for every new two-device measurement, including repeat measurements. Turn it off in measurement settings when not needed. Reconnecting the same measurement preserves your choice. Video is recorded without audio. If camera preparation fails, retry or continue without video.
REVIEW EVERY STEP IN THE MEASUREMENT INTERVAL
Open Review and edit analysis in record details to check the interval boundaries and all contacts against video and waveforms. Correct automatic detections or register contacts one by one from the first step. Add, move or delete contacts, undo or redo changes, and save a draft to resume later.
Save and adopt a reviewed revision to recalculate steps and cadence from the contacts inside the confirmed interval. Fewer than 11 contacts are supported, and left/right labels are optional. Five-cycle analysis is an additional action. Keep the original and previous revisions and choose which result to use. Waveform review is available without video.
Work in portrait or landscape on iPhone and iPad. View the whole portrait video, zoom in, or use a smaller iPad window.
REVIEW RESULTS AND PARTICIPANT HISTORY
Results include time, mean speed, steps, cadence, mean gait-cycle duration, three-axis acceleration RMS, autocorrelation (AC), harmonic ratio (HR) and gait-cycle duration variability (CV). Measures show calculation status, reference-value limitations, unavailable reasons and the cycles or intervals used.
View a participant's history or compare two records. Differences in conditions or analysis methods are identified when measures cannot be compared. Short walks may contain too few cycles, resulting in short-segment estimates or unavailable measures. Handheld device-axis analysis is distinguished from waist-mounted trunk reference measures.
SAVE, SHARE AND BACK UP
Records and waveforms stay on the device. There is no automatic deletion based on record count; free storage is required. The adopted result is used in CSV, PDF, waveform images and video exports. Export reviewed contacts and a JSON backup containing the original, revisions and draft. Video files are not included in JSON backups; export and retain them separately. Older record formats remain readable, preserving saved measurements and originals.
BEFORE USE
For one-device mode, keep the screen facing you and the rear camera facing forward. For waist mounting, secure the device vertically with its top edge upward, screen facing outward behind you and rear camera toward your back.
AR distance is experimental. Validity of acceleration, step estimates and detailed analysis in real walking is still being assessed. Treat results as reference values. HR means harmonic ratio, a measure of within-cycle symmetry, not heart rate. Numerical changes are not assessments of clinical improvement or deterioration. The app is not intended for diagnosis, treatment decisions or fall-risk assessment. Continue normal supervision and assistance.
