Description by Inuka Senanayake(from the App Store)
Snap Out is intentional digital boundaries — a simple, elegant way to break the autopilot habit of opening apps like Instagram, TikTok, and X without thinking.
HOW IT WORKS Choose the apps that pull you in most and put them behind a Shield. When you try to open a shielded app, Snap Out asks you to solve a quick math problem first. That few seconds of friction is enough to interrupt the mindless reflex and put you back in control — backed by research showing even brief cognitive friction dramatically cuts impulsive app opening.
Still want in? Set a timer for how long you actually want to use the app. When it runs out, Snap Out locks it again automatically, so one "quick check" doesn't turn into an hour of scrolling.
WHY MATH, NOT WILLPOWER Mindless scrolling is an unconscious reflex — willpower alone rarely beats it in the moment. A few seconds of active thinking, like solving 308 + 849, is enough to break the reflex and let you make a real decision about whether you want to open that app right now.
FEATURES • Shield any app or group of apps from impulsive opening • Math-based unlock challenge that adapts in difficulty • Custom timers so you decide how long you actually get • Track your Snapouts and total time saved • Clean, distraction-free dark and light themes • Built for people who want to use their phone with intention, not habit
Snap Out doesn't block apps forever — it just adds a moment of intention before you open them. Most people are surprised how often that's all it takes to put the phone down.
Download Snap Out and start reclaiming your time, one snap at a time.
