Before anything spins, Spin the Wheel commits to the draw: it generates a secret number, hashes it together with your list of names, and prints that hash on the hub for the whole room to see. Anyone can type a challenge word into it — a word the app could not have known in advance, and one that helps decide the result. After the wheel stops, the secret is revealed, and the hash proves it was fixed all along and could not have been swapped for one that suited the winner.
You get a receipt for every draw. It carries the commitment, the revealed seed, the challenge word, the entry list and a short recipe you can run on any computer with shasum and four lines of Python. Nothing about checking a draw depends on this app being honest, or even on this app still being installed.
CHOSEN PROPERLY, NOT JUST ANIMATED
Most wheels simulate physics and read off whatever comes up. That only looks random: the final angle follows from the starting angle and the flick, so a practised push lands in the same place, and the wheel starts where the last spin stopped — so consecutive draws are related. Here the winner is chosen first, by a cryptographic generator using rejection sampling rather than a remainder (a remainder quietly gives the first few entries an extra share), and the wheel is then animated to land on it. Before any name is announced, the app reads the winner back off the wheel it just drew, so what the room sees is always what is announced.
ONE SPIN, ONE NAME
Add names, spin, get an answer. Sit someone out for a round without deleting them. Turn on cycle mode and each winner steps out until everyone has had a turn.
WHAT ELSE IS IN IT
• A receipt for every draw, shareable with or without the names
• Verify: paste any receipt back in and it is re-checked from the printed text alone
• A fairness audit that runs thousands of real draws and reports the chi-square
• Finger chooser: everyone holds a finger on the screen and one is picked
• Weights, with each entry's true percentage shown next to it
• Speak the winner aloud for a room where not everyone can see the screen
• A Reduce Motion path that replaces the spin rather than shortening it
• A flat history — every draw kept, including any that were taken again
DRAWN AGAIN, ON THE RECORD
If you re-draw, the first result stays in the history and the replacement says it superseded it. Quietly spinning until you like the answer is how a wheel actually gets rigged, and this app will not help with that.
EVERYTHING STAYS ON YOUR PHONE
No account, no sign-in, no analytics, no tracking. Your names and your history are stored on your device and nowhere else. The only network call the app ever makes is to check your subscription status.
SPIN THE WHEEL PRO
Pro adds unlimited saved wheels, weights with real percentages, the complete history, importing a list from Files or Contacts, and the larger 60,000-draw fairness audit.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the period. Manage or cancel in your App Store account settings.
