Stryker HexConnect

Stryker HexConnect is a companion mobile application for the Hoffmann LRF smartHEX platform, designed to support patients following the surgical application of an external fixation device for limb deformity correction. The system enables the execution of surgeon-prescribed correction plans created in the clinical planning software.

At scheduled intervals defined by the surgeon, the patient or caregiver can initiate the next adjustment step. By tapping “Start Adjustments,” the app communicates with the smartHEX controllers to execute the planned correction according to the surgeon-defined treatment plan.

The Hoffmann LRF smartHEX platform consists of the following components:
1. Web application for surgeons – used to plan and prescribe the correction schedule.
2. Hexapod external fixation device – used for limb deformity correction.
3. smartHEX controllers – enabling precise automated adjustments of the device.
4. Stryker HexConnect mobile app – securely relays commands to the smartHEX controllers via wireless communication.

This app is intended to support the execution of a surgeon-prescribed bone deformity correction plan using the Stryker Hoffmann LRF smartHEX system. It is designed for use under the supervision of a qualified healthcare professional. Patients should always follow their surgeon’s instructions before and during use.

The mobile app does not generate health measurements, perform diagnosis, or provide treatment recommendations. It relays data generated by the cloud-hosted web application used by surgeons for pre-operative and post-operative planning. All health-related measurements and treatment parameters are defined by the surgeon within the planning software based on clinical input.

The mobile app has no independent clinical decision-making role. It operates as part of an integrated system, transmitting surgeon-defined parameters to the fixation device. These parameters may be executed either through manual patient actuation of the struts or through automatic actuation via BLE-connected smartHEX strut controllers.

The HexConnect app connects with the smartHEX strut controllers attached to the smartHEX struts. Once enrolled, the controllers receive wireless commands from the app to execute the surgeon-prescribed correction plan.
