A proper number-placement (Sudoku) app wrapped in a quiet Japanese aesthetic. Settle the board one move at a time, accompanied by calm sounds. On your commute, on a break, or in the moments before sleep — a little time to focus, quietly.
■ Features
◆ Five difficulty levels, from Beginner to Master
From your very first puzzle to boards that put up a real fight. 50 puzzles at each level — Beginner, Easy, Medium, Hard and Master — 250 in all, every one an original, well-crafted board.
◆ Always pick up where you left off
Unfinished boards are saved automatically, so you can resume the moment you have a spare minute.
◆ Serious tools for serious solving
Pencil marks (candidates), undo and redo, and a timer. Everything you need to think a puzzle all the way through.
◆ Hints and auto-solve when you get stuck
Reveal the next move when you hit a wall. Handy for checking your work, too.
◆ Scan paper puzzles with your camera
Point your camera at a puzzle in a newspaper or magazine and it comes straight into the app (text recognition / OCR). Finish it on your phone.
◆ Make your own puzzles
Create original boards and enjoy the puzzles you built yourself.
◆ Print puzzles on paper (Premium)
Print the puzzle you are solving on A4 paper, one per page, and solve it with a pen. Each page has a QR code — scan it with your phone to open that puzzle in the app. Official puzzles may be copied freely for schools, classes and facilities, as long as the page is handed out as-is and for free.
◆ Records and rankings
Every puzzle keeps a history of how you solved it — the date, your time, and whether you used hints. Register an account to join the rankings and compare times with other players; your own position is shown even when you are not in the top list.
◆ Japanese sound, Japanese design
An original theme song, background music, and koto sound effects. Each number you place lifts the tone one step. Music and sound effects can each be turned on or off and adjusted from My Page.
◆ Plays offline / start right away, no sign-up
Play with no connection at all. An account is optional — register to keep your records and get more out of the app.
◆ About ads
To keep Sudoku Takumi free, a banner ad appears at the bottom of the play screen, and a full-screen ad may appear when you leave a puzzle you have just solved. Full-screen ads are spaced out so they never appear back to back, and they never interrupt you while you are solving.
■ Great for
- Daily brain training and mental exercise
- Filling spare minutes on a commute or a break
- Winding down with quiet, focused concentration
- Moving the puzzles you solve on paper onto your phone
Today's puzzle makes tomorrow's takumi (master). Take your time with the numbers, at your own pace.
■ Premium (auto-renewable subscription)
No ads, unlimited coaching, import and auto-solve, and you can print puzzles on paper. Monthly and yearly plans are available; prices are shown on the purchase screen in the app. New subscribers can start with a 14-day free trial. The subscription renews automatically unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and you can cancel any time in your store account settings. If you choose not to subscribe, nothing changes for you.
