Fifteen cameras from the 90s and 2000s, recreated as they really looked: six old phone cameras (from a 0.3 MP flip phone to an 8 MP full-touch phone) and nine more from beyond the phone — a film camera, a disposable, an instant camera, a toy camera, a camcorder, a point-and-shoot, a PC webcam, a DV camcorder and a CCTV. Yellow tints under fluorescent light, photos that smear when your hand shakes, faces blown out by the flash. Date stamps and shutter sounds differ by camera.
The phones
• First Phone Cam — yellow and mushy. If you can tell it's a face, that's a win.
• School Days — the flash fires and only the face goes white. Sometimes it shakes.
• Late Study Night — purple blotches in the dark, hard contrast.
• Field Trip — heavy colors, electric blue skies, light bleeds against the sun.
• First College Summer — fairly sharp, but nights are a storm of noise.
• Last Summer — almost sharp, with a faint green cast.
Beyond the phone
• Dad's Film Camera — warm, grainy, with an orange date printed in the corner.
• Disposable Camera — harsh flash, dark corners, the odd light leak.
• Instant Camera — white frame, faded colors, a handwritten date.
• Toy Camera — black corners, popping colors, frequent light leaks.
• Family Camcorder — bleeding colors and scan lines. A red REC light blinks while you record.
• Point-and-Shoot — sharp but cold, with blown-out highlights.
• PC Webcam — hazy and bluish, highlights blown out. Video-chat quality.
• DV Camcorder — crisp, with faint scan lines. DV and the date on screen.
• CCTV / Dashcam — green night-vision look with CAM 01, REC, date and time.
Features
• Fifteen cameras, each with its own screen and shutter sound
• Old-camera video, up to 1 minute, with sound
• Color filters — Normal, Warm and Mono are free; sepia, faded, sunset, classroom, night bus, blossom, light leak and tape are Premium
• Film filters — Gold 200, Aqua 400, Slide, Cross, Photobooth, Milky, Dawn Mist and Midsummer are free; Flash Burst and Prism are Premium
• Intensity slider — dial the look to your taste before or after you shoot (free)
• Face retouch (Premium) — skin, glow, slim, shrink, eyes, with adjustable strength. Live on the viewfinder, and in photos and video
• Pick the date printed on photos and videos (Premium), and change it later on photos in your gallery
• Album frame and story-size export
• Turn photos from your library into old-camera photos
• Favorites, grid, selfie mirror mode, silent shutter
• No login. Photos and videos never leave your phone.
Eleven cameras (six phones from back then and five beyond the phone), photo and video (up to 1 minute) shooting and saving, the Normal, Warm and Mono filters, the 8 Film filters and the intensity slider are free. The Instant Camera, Family Camcorder, DV Camcorder and CCTV are Premium cameras. Saving or sharing a photo that uses a Premium camera, color filters, Flash Burst, Prism, a custom date or face retouch needs Premium (a one-time purchase of about $3.99, yours forever, not a subscription); you can still shoot and preview with the effects for free. If you already bought a camera or a pack, Premium is applied automatically.
