Description by Derek Fairfield(from the App Store)
The 99 is the social app built for one stretch of road: Highway 99, through California's Central Valley. Not a coastal app with a Fresno filter bolted on — a local one, built here, for four million people who've never had a platform that felt like theirs.
We're launching from University of the Pacific in Stockton, then opening the rest of the corridor city by city — Fresno to Sacramento. Post from anywhere on the 99 today: every post lands in the All 99 feed even before your own city's hub unlocks.
FEATURES
Your Feed — Local posts sorted Hot, New, For You, or Following. Just people actually posting near you, not a global algorithm pulling in strangers from across the planet.
Ghost Mode — Flip it on and post or comment with your name hidden. Same feed, no name attached.
The 99 Cam — Shoot a photo or a video up to 30 seconds, straight into your feed. No filters, no editing suite — just what's happening right now.
Reels — Short, vertical video from around the Valley.
Stories — Share a moment that disappears after 24 hours.
Comments, Free for Everyone — No paywall on the conversation. Every post is open to reply, no exceptions.
Direct Messages — Real delivery and read receipts, plus a running streak with the people you talk to most.
The 99 Pulse — A daily Valley briefing: Highway 99 conditions and today's Central Valley forecast, with links straight to the source.
Valley Rankings & Weekly Wrap — City rep, streaks, and the best posts of the week, corridor-wide.
Report & Block — Tap ••• on any post to report it or block the person. We act on every report.
WHY THE 99
Every big platform treats the space between the Bay and LA like flyover country. The 99 doesn't. We started with one campus instead of the whole corridor on purpose — a dense, real community beats a thin, empty one — and we're expanding city by city from there.
Free to join. No ads, ever. The 99 Pro is coming soon; everything above is free while we build it.
