Mileage is money, and most self-employed people lose some of it to trips they forgot to write down. Tripalytix records the drive while you are driving it, so the log is made at the time — which is what both tax authorities ask for.
AUTOMATIC, NOT ALWAYS-ON
The app watches for motion with the phone's low-power activity sensor and turns GPS on only once a drive is genuinely under way. It stops within two minutes of the vehicle stopping, and no map is drawn while you drive.
SORT A WEEK IN A MINUTE
Swipe a trip right for Business, left for Personal. Undo is one tap. Anything you have not sorted is exported as non-deductible rather than quietly claimed.
A LOGBOOK YOU CAN ACTUALLY FILE
Every trip carries its date, its start and end, its distance, and whether that distance was measured or estimated — estimated distance is never blended into a measured total. Export a CRA or IRS logbook as a spreadsheet or a PDF: preview it first, save it, share it, or have it emailed to you.
EXPENSES AND RECEIPTS
Photograph a receipt and the app offers to read the merchant, total and date off it. It asks before the first photograph is ever sent, and you confirm every field before anything is saved.
WORKS WITH LOCATION TURNED OFF
Every trip can be entered by hand, with a distance or two odometer readings. If you decline location, the app is still fully usable.
SEVEN TAX REGIONS
Canada, the United States, Mexico, the United Kingdom, the EU, Australia and New Zealand — each with its own published rate, distance unit, currency and tax-year start. The app names the authority behind every rate, and never claims to be endorsed by one.
SUBSCRIPTION
Tripalytix is a subscription. New subscribers start with a free trial; its exact length is shown on the purchase screen before you buy anything.
Monthly: $8.99 USD
Annual: $69.00 USD
Prices are shown in your own currency inside the app. Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. A subscription renews automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of the period. Manage or cancel in your device Settings. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.

Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
