VELA - Satellite Pass Alerts
See the next Starlink train or satellite pass over your head, with a live countdown and exactly where to look.
VELA is a precision instrument for spotting satellites with the naked eye. Every number in the app is computed on your device from the live orbital catalog. No estimates, no invented data, no accounts.
TONIGHT AT A GLANCE - The next visible pass over your exact location, with a live countdown - A departures board of upcoming passes for the night ahead - Entry and exit directions, peak altitude, duration and sunlit fraction for every pass - A rotating ground track globe showing where the satellite is right now, over real coastlines
LIVE MODE When the countdown hits zero, VELA becomes an instrument. The compass rotates with your phone, a guide arrow points your eyes to the satellite, and haptic pulses mark its climb. Follow the pass from horizon to horizon in real time.
STARLINK TRAIN DETECTION When a fresh batch of Starlink satellites appears in the orbital catalog, VELA detects the new train and shows its first visible pass over you, so you can catch the famous string of lights before it disperses.
ONE ALERT, TEN MINUTES BEFORE Arm a pass and get a single notification before it rises. No feeds, no digests, no spam. Lead time is adjustable from 5 to 30 minutes.
REAL DATA, COMPUTED ON YOUR DEVICE - Live orbital elements from the public satellite catalog - Full SGP4 propagation runs on your phone - Passes are computed for your exact coordinates - Your location never leaves your device - No account, no ads, no tracking
NIGHT VISION A red display mode preserves your dark adaptation while you wait und
