The first step of digitalisation in tourism for the post-coronavirus process was taken in Izmir and Izmir became the first city in Turkey to complete its digital tourism infrastructure. Thanks to the Visitİzmir mobile tourism application that can be downloaded to mobile phones, those who want to visit Izmir will be able to get information about more than 2,300 points of the city and access anywhere at any time.

With more than 2,300 historical and touristic points, the application, which includes information, photos and videos, guides those who want to discover the historical, cultural and natural richness of Izmir. It shows on the map how to reach these points with location information. Detailed information on all points from the basket maker from Bergama to the luxury hotels in Çeşme, from Yeşilova Mound, the first settlement of İzmir dating back to 8,500 years ago, to museums and art galleries or little-known nature areas and the creatures in these areas can be accessed through Visitİzmir.

In the first phase of the project, expert teams formed by the Izmir Development Agency processed written and visual information about Izmir's touristic attractions in 11 different categories such as gastronomy, history and culture, intangible cultural heritage, nature and countryside into the digital database. Completed in 12 months, the digital tourism infrastructure will be regularly updated by experts and Visitİzmir users, and new information will be entered into the system.
