This relaxing app was developed for the project "VR in the Hospital," a collaboration between JEF and VRT Sandbox, supported by the Flemish government as part of innovative partnership projects, and developed by Hunsk and Soulmade.
For several years now, JEF has been bringing festival films to hospitals through the project "JEF in the Hospital." This initiative has grown into a platform where children and young people can watch festival films all year round. But the JEF festival is more than just watching films during the spring break. Every year, visitors can also be amazed in the media lab or take part in workshops and masterclasses. Virtual reality offers the opportunity to bring this part of the festival to hospitals or even to children’s homes.
To create the content for the VR Wonderwater app, we visited children in hospitals and rehabilitation centers. They shared their imagination and drew characters, which the animators then translated into 3D animations. The result can be admired in this app, using a (cardboard) VR headset.
