Wax Deck

Wax Deck turns your iPhone or iPad into a real scratch instrument — not a pitch-bend toy, a physically modeled platter with inertia and friction, the way a real turntable actually behaves.

Play
• Two independent decks, each with its own physically modeled platter — spin, hold, and release it exactly like real vinyl, with adjustable brake time and torque
• A crossfader and fader-cut controls for chirp, transform, flare, and crab techniques
• Sample from the microphone, import any audio file, or capture system audio playing elsewhere on your device straight into a deck
• 12 samples built in — six synthesized scratch staples and six public-domain archival recordings — so there's something to scratch the moment you open the app
• A chop editor: trim dead air off a sample, then split it into regions and assign them to pads, with full preview playback before you commit
• Six visual skins for the platter, including two built from real vinyl photography

Learn
• A 5-technique lesson mode — baby scratch, chirp, transform, flare, and crab — each with a step-by-step walkthrough, a "Watch Example" that plays an idealized version of the technique through the real engine, and a scored practice window with feedback on your timing and evenness
• Track your best score per technique and chase improvement over time

Perform & share
• Record a full performance — audio or video — and export it
• Scratch with another performer: Sync lets nearby devices follow one deck live over MultipeerConnectivity, no internet required
• Two AUv3 plug-ins for GarageBand and other Audio Unit hosts: a scratchable instrument with its own in-process gesture recorder and pre-listen, and a capture effect you insert on any track to grab whatever's playing and scratch it live, right where it was captured

Designed for iPhone and iPad alike, with layouts that use the extra iPad screen space rather than just stretching the phone UI.

Whether you're learning your first baby scratch or building a full two-deck routine, Wax Deck is built to put a real, responsive turntable feel in your hands.
