Wildfire Assistant helps you understand wildfire risk around an address, explore current federal wildfire perimeter data on a map, and get practical preparedness guidance—plus optional AI tools for questions and photo review.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

• Map & data: Explore NIFC WFIGS current wildfire perimeters (U.S. government source) with an interactive map. Search by address and see fire-related context near you.
• Risk score: Get an address-based wildfire risk score (0.0–1.0) that combines regional factors with distance to active perimeters. Use it as one input to your planning, not a guarantee of safety.
• AI assistant: Ask questions about preparedness, defensible space, and what to think about before fire season. Conversations are processed using AI; answers are informational only.
• Photo insights: Optionally analyze photos of your surroundings for visible hazard cues and improvement ideas (camera or photo library).

IMPORTANT LIMITATIONS

Wildfire Assistant is an educational and planning tool. It does not provide emergency dispatch, evacuation orders, or real-time official alerts. Always follow instructions from local authorities, emergency services, and verified alert systems. In an emergency, call your local emergency number (e.g., 911 in the U.S.).

Data sources and AI outputs can be incomplete or delayed. Never rely on this app as your only source of information in a life-threatening situation.

PRIVACY IN SHORT

The app may use your location while you use the map (to center the map and contextualize risk), access photos you choose for analysis, and send chat or image content to our AI provider to generate responses. See our privacy policy for details.
