Wren: Chord Trainer

Playing music is fun. But what happens when all you can do is play strictly by the sheet? You feel limited. You need references, you need to be told how to play. Get out of that mindset and start learning what drives a song. It's the song's chords. Choose a key, choose a mode, and create a chord progression. The melody, the catchy part of the songs we love to hum, it's built on top of that. How a song feels, the places it goes, and the journey it takes. One of the most important bits in developing all of that is the chords in it. If you can internalize the sound and feel of even a few chords, you go from playing other people's songs to playing your own songs. And furthermore, you can hear start playing songs you hear without the sheet music because you've practiced its underlying themes and progressions.

That's what we want for you. To help you memorize chords fast and play them even faster. Every triad, 7th, and inversion, in all keys and many modes, until you can play any of them on instinct. Don't miss the forest for the trees

A PROGRESSIVE TRAINING PLAN BASED AROUND THE CIRCLE OF 5THS
Not sure where to start? Quick Practice builds a set for you based on what you've been working on, and the exercise adapts to your level. Want to drill something specific instead? Make your own pool: pick the keys, chord types, and inversions you care about, and go.

GUIDED CHORD PROGRESSIONS
Random chords sharpen recall, but music is more than that. Load a progression in order, then transpose it into any key and any of 7 modes. Save the ones you like or start from the built-in presets. It's a live lead sheet you can play in any key on the spot.

PLAY SCALES LIGHTNING FAST
Learn major and minor scales at increasing tempos with the proper fingerings for each hand across both 1 and two octaves

PLAY AND SCORE YOURSELF
Connect a MIDI keyboard and Wren listens as you play, confirming each chord in real time and tracking how clean and quick you are. No keyboard? You can rate your own progress at the end of a long session

SEE YOURSELF IMPROVE
Wren tracks your proficiency on every key, chord, and inversion, from basic triads up through 7ths. Watch weak spots turn solid, keep a streak going, and set a weekly routine that fits your schedule.
