Year Rings is a life simulation set against real economic history. Build a career, care for your family, study, manage your health, and make simulated financial decisions as the world changes around you.
EIGHT SCENARIOS, DIFFERENT LIVES
Seven annual scenarios span America 1929–1989, Japan 1955–2015, Taiwan 1985–2045, Hong Kong 1997–2057, Mainland China 1978–2025, Singapore 1965–2025 and South Korea 1961–2021. A contemporary scenario, "2026: Present Tense", plays one Taiwanese year in 52 weekly turns.
Experience the Great Depression, industrial growth, economic reform, financial crises and the technology era through personal choices. Historical research frames the events; prices, wages and outcomes also use simulation and interpolation. Future years are imagined, not forecasts.
YOUR CHOICES REACH THE NEXT GENERATION
Start from one of six social classes. Divide your time and money among work, study, family and health. Prepare for professional qualifications, support children through school and work, respond to relationship strain, and plan care for older relatives. At the end of a life, look back through the Life Review or continue through an eligible child.
A HOUSEHOLD YOU CAN UNDERSTAND
Read yearly reports of income, expenses, assets and debt. Manage separate homes and mortgages, see the rent saved by living in your own home, and give eligible property to adult children. Weigh business partnerships, health recovery and insurance within your household budget.
DAILY LIFE, ONE REAL DAY AT A TIME
Daily Life offers work, relationships and a simulated portfolio of 54 instruments, including U.S. and Taiwan indices, representative large-cap stocks and major FX pairs. Orders and settlement use the latest available demo closing price. This release uses local demo quotes, with no brokerage connection, real funds or real trades.
FREE TO START
Daily Life and the full "1990 Taiwan" scenario are free. Each of the six paid annual scenarios includes its first 10 in-game years free; "2026: Present Tense" includes its first 12 weeks. Optional one-time purchases unlock the rest.
An all-scenarios pass unlocks current and future scenarios. Eligible verified scenario purchases can count toward the pass; availability, currency rules and the actual App Store price are shown before checkout. The three-scenario bundle covers America, Japan and Hong Kong only. Purchases can be restored with the same Apple Account.
OPTIONAL STORIES AND AI
The Special Elements Pack and Collector's Edition include Life Biography and the AI life companion. AI is off by default and requires iOS 26 or later with Apple Intelligence available. On supported iOS 27 devices, it may use Apple's Private Cloud Compute, with on-device or template fallbacks. AI writes summaries and narration; it never makes your choices or changes the simulation.
No ads or tracking. No game account is required, and saves remain on your device in this release.
