Description

班台位于霹雳州曼绒县，是一个民风淳朴、恬静悠闲的小渔村，这里孕育着一所华文独立中学---育青中学。

1960年代班台小镇未有中学，在地孩子小学毕业后，只有少部分孩子有能力到外坡念中学，故先贤几经努力地欲筹办一所国民型中学，但不获教育局批准，因此才决定改变计划，创办独立中学。

育青中学占地20英亩，现有校用地13英亩，创立于1962年，取校名为“育青”，意指培育青年。

育青中学是霹雳州，也是西马最后成立的一所华文独立中学，刚跨过一甲子岁月。

育青中学于1962年迎来第一批139名学生，租借马华公会为临时校舍，为期一年，1963年才迁入现有校址上课。随着学生人数的增加，在已故第一任董事长蔡尤搿的带领下，董事会在现校址大兴土木，完成所有的软硬体设备。

学生逐年增加，校务蓬勃发展，后因教育法令的改变，到了1969年年底，学生仅剩数十名，学校濒临关闭。

1973年霹雳独中复兴运动，终使独中浴火重生，学生人数开始回弹，校务稳健发展，到了1984年学生人数创高峰，共457名。

随后几年，学生人数又往下滑落，到了2011年全校学生仅192名，育青中学成了微型独中。后在现任董事长郑孝川的带领下，进行教学设备的提升，终在2016年以302名学生，从微型独中晋升为小型独中。

育青中学没有学生宿舍，大部分的学生皆来自班台五区，即班台、双礼佛、宋溪峇都、昔加里、莫珍歪。目前全校学生人数为378名，教师30名，职员员工7名。

学制为六年制，即初中三年及高中三年，以统考为主。学生考取高中统考文凭后，可申请进入本地私立大专院校就读，或前往国外各大专院校深造。学生亦可自行报考马来西亚教育文凭（SPM）。
