EVERY ANIMAL IS REAL
Not a cartoon set of forty. Ten thousand and one species, from the blue whale to the bombardier beetle, each with a real photograph, its scientific name, where it lives, what it eats and what eats it.
• 125,000 facts — ten to fifteen on every single card, written to be understood by a child rather than a zoologist.
• SAY IT — how to pronounce the name, written out to sound out. KROK-uh-dyle. koh-AH-luh. PLAT-uh-puhs. Nearly 9,000 cards carry one, so a child can say the animal's name out loud and be right.
• WHERE IT LIVES — a zoomable world map built from millions of real wildlife sightings, with country flags and names as you zoom in. The great white shark shows Australia, the United States, New Zealand, Brazil and South Africa — because that is where people have actually seen one.
• FOOD WEBS — who eats whom, drawn from recorded observations rather than guesswork. Tap any animal in the web to read about it, then come straight back.
GAMES WORTH PLAYING
• GUESS IN 10 — the classic yes-or-no guessing game, playable on your own, sharing one screen, or across up to eight devices in the same room over local wireless. No internet needed and no accounts: the devices simply find each other.
• Answers cross animals off the board for you, like turning tiles face-down.
• PICTURE MODE — every question and every answer has a symbol, so a child who cannot read yet can play a full game on their own.
• QUIZ — hundreds of questions drawn from the real card data, with pictures on every answer.
• SCOREBOARD — points, streaks, head-to-head records and ten badges to chase.
MADE TO BE USED
• COLOURING PAGES — every animal becomes a colouring-in page, traced from its own photograph and filled with a paint bucket.
• DID YOU KNOW — one fact a day, at a time you choose. Tap it and it opens that animal.
• TOP 10 LISTS — the most venomous, the deadliest, the fastest, the stinkiest, the longest-lived, and a dozen more, ranked on published figures rather than opinion.
• SHARE CARDS — turn any fact into a picture worth sending to a grandparent.
• Favourites, a growing collection, and a card of the day.
BUILT FOR AEROPLANES
The whole app — every photograph, every fact, every map — lives on the device. No loading spinners, no "you are offline" screens, no data used. It works in the back of a car, on a flight, at a campsite and in a waiting room.
HONEST ABOUT ITS SOURCES
Every photograph is Creative Commons or public domain, credited by name and licence on the card it appears on. Facts come from Wikipedia, ranges from the Global Biodiversity Information Facility, predator–prey links from the Global Biotic Interactions database, and body mass and lifespan from AnAge. Nothing is invented.
SAFE BY DESIGN
No account to create. No chat, no user-generated content, no links out to the web, no advertising and no analytics. Two-device play works only between devices in the same room and carries nothing but the game. Nothing a child does in Zoopedia leaves the device.
Universal — one app for iPhone and iPad.
