Arcus Dictionary is a fast offline English dictionary with 165000+ words, definitions and synonyms. A 6.2MB download gives you access to everything without requiring network access after install.

It is designed to be easy to use and give you the top and most common results for your query. All you need to do is start typing to get results instantly. By default the more probable matches are displayed first although there is an option to display results purely alphabetically too.

The dictionary also supports pronunciations for definitions, a favourites feature, word hyperlinking, sharing and customisation options.

If you have any questions, suggestions or feature requests please email me using the contact option in the Android Market. Unfortunately I cannot respond personally to comments in the market.

Recent changes:
1.7.1 Fix crash when adding favourite after backing up.

1.7.0 Added a backup feature and ads. I know many of you won't like the ads, but you won't see any if you're offline anyway.

If you don't want them, do not update. Backup was added to allow you to keep your favourites when moving to the pro version.

The pro version is much newer and better than this version, so please do upgrade if you want more words and features and a better UI.

Used to be a better dictionary when it gave, along with the date of birth, the actual European birth names of "Golda Meir" and the other white, European Jews who established a Jewish, exclusivist state (in occupied PALESTINE) and adopted Hebrew-sounding, mythological names to further their dubious personal historical claims to the land. All the dictionaries on Google Play which I have downloaded and examined have a similar aversion to disseminating definitions which include the accurate, historical birth names of said individuals. Additionally, only defining an individual as, "An Israeli statesman..." without including the above mentioned data is a disservice to learners and is intellectually dishonest because the modern state of Israel (in occupied PALESTINE) did not exist physically on planet earth prior to the year 1948.
