Historically variants of this game are believed to have originated in Egypt over 3000 years ago, but was picked up by the Romans and then later to India. It also spread to east Asia, but was then largely replaced by Xiangqi (Chinese chess). It is now very popular in the west.

User reviews of Backgammon
Great look & feel. Quite challenging (could be more so). Would like to see four things if possible in future releases: 1. Auto bear-off option 2. Auto-play forced moves option 3. That the dice aren't rolled when a player has a counter on the bar and all spike are occupied (wastes too much time). 4. (This'll never happen but) The program utilized the Jellyfish neural net engine.

Meh. Weak AI. Probably wouldn't get more than a 500-750 rating on the hardest level. My biggest issue is the auto play after your move instead of requiring a dice pickup to indicate the end of your move.

AI is not ranndom After 4yrs of playing this on at least 3 devices, i can safely say that the AI AIn't random. Too many first rolls, the AI refuses doubles like a punk a$$ b!tçh. If i could find a better backgammon game i'd be ecstatic!

Seems like it cheats, but really it doesn't! I only play at Level 5 (the hardest) and almost always only lose if I'm not focused on my own checker play. Otherwise, the AI is beat-able, tho tricky. I think players who always "remember" the useless doubles they get (and/or the favorable doubles the AI gets) would almost always have "forgotten" the useful doubles they themselves have rolled. I've never played tournaments before and I'm wondering if anyone's tournament play have improved after continually playing and beating AI players. Just wondering.
