Backgammon is a game of skill and strategy and one of the world's classic parlour games, played for recreation and as a gambling game. Like Mahjong, this is a game that is played in social groups in coffee houses and bars. Historically variants of this game are believed to have originated in Egypt over 3000 years ago, but was picked up by the Romans and then later to India. It also spread to east Asia, but was then largely replaced by Xiangqi (Chinese chess). It is now very popular in the west.

User reviews of Backgammon
Great look & feel. Quite challenging (could be more so). Would like to see four things if possible in future releases: 1. Auto bear-off option 2. Auto-play forced moves option 3. That the dice aren't rolled when a player has a counter on the bar and all spike are occupied (wastes too much time). 4. (This'll never happen but) The program utilized the Jellyfish neural net engine.

Meh. Weak AI. Probably wouldn't get more than a 500-750 rating on the hardest level. My biggest issue is the auto play after your move instead of requiring a dice pickup to indicate the end of your move.

I am VERY happy to see there exists a higher scoring backgammon game on Google Play than that b.s. AI Factory one, which I used in 2011 and 2012 before tiring of the completely obvious cheating on the part of the computer. They can deny and explain until they're blue in the face, but lots of other people were also complaining, and after seeing the computer roll 3 consecutive high value doubles to catch up and pull ahead more often than not if I was way ahead by 50, 60, or 80 points, I uninstalled it and, it turned out, put the game aside these last couple of years. How often should a player—or an honest program—who's behind by a large margin while the opponent is about to start bearing off, expect to have such great luck at that moment that he rolls a dbl-5 let's say…  followed by a dbl-6 (!)… followed by yet another dbl-6 (!!!)… that is to say *SIXTY-EIGHT* points… on his next three consecutive rolls, allowing him not just to catch up but to actually pull ahead and WIN? Well, the probability is roughly 0.00077, which means in the REAL world he can expect it maybe about once per roughly 1,300 games on the whole. REALLY? HUH! THAT'S weird, because the AI Factory backgammon engine did that to me maybe 2 out of every 3 times that was the situation, in my estimation, with only the exact die values varying a bit, like maybe last time it was dbl-5's then -5's again then -4's, and the following time might be dbl-4's then -6's then -5's. At the time its Play Store avg was in the middle 4's and there was nothing higher, but I LOVE the fact they've now dropped to the low 4's while that other one is in the HIGH 4's. Losing customers, AI Factory? I wonder why. I wish I could help you, but I'm kind of stupid—y'know, like all the others who were complaining because they could hardly believe what they were seeing—and unfortunately my tested 141 IQ isn't high enough to figure out simple cause and effect. Sorry.

Decent game Only played to level 3 so far, seems balanced enough. Nice simple game play. :)

Great game The computer seems to be getting a lot of doubles. Makes you feel like it's almost cheating. Overall great game

Six double 5's in a row for him, Six 2-3's for me. Highly unlikely Most of the time it's OK, but now and then.... Spoils the whole thing.
