**FREE, OPEN SOURCE, NO ADS**
This app is centered around the basic question "[expletive of choice], am I gonna miss the BART?". Enter your most traveled routes and receive a real-time listing of upcoming departures in one click. Unlike most apps, the estimated time until departure actually counts down second-by-second, so you'll know just how fast you need to run to the station! Note that estimated departure times are, in fact, estimates, though the general accuracy of an estimate is shown beneath the countdown. After a minute or so, the accuracy of the estimates should automatically increase.

Unique features of this app:
* Streamlined for experienced BART commuters
* Real-time departure info refreshes automatically, and the accuracy of the departure estimates increases over time
* Estimated arrival times
* Pick which train you want to board, and information about that departure will be available in your notification tray.
* Set a departure alarm to go off a few minutes before your train leaves (you pick how much advance warning you want)
* Routes are entered with both the origin station and the destination station, so the real-time departures listing only lists trains that will actually get you to your destination
* Phone will not sleep while viewing departure times (the screen will only dim), so you only need a quick glance at the phone to see how long you have left to catch the train
* Zoomable offline system map
* Fares and next departure time are shown in the saved route listing
* No ads and open source; Built purely for the love of programming, and because I didn't like any of the other BART apps out there

NOTE TO GALAXY S USERS:
I'm aware of an issue with that specific phone model that causes the app to crash consistently. I'm working hard on a fix, so keep your eyes out for an update! Meanwhile, please contact me at bartrunner@dougkeen.com if you can volunteer some time to help me track down the problem.

★★★★★ Easy to use, and fantastic for finding the right trains at the right time! I especially appreciate the ability to save my favorite routes, the option to pull up the system map right from the main screen, and real-time updates. BART Runner has been more helpful and reliable than BART itself.

★★★★★ Usability wins. A simple interface that covers the essentials (as in updating BART train arrivals & departures for any given station) is all I was looking for and found here. No ads, or unnecessary info. When you just need BART train times (especially when in a hurry and wonder how soon's the next train), this is perfect.

★★★★★ As someone who used to have a droid and moved over to iOS, this app is on my top 5 list of things I miss about droid.... It worked so well for me for years. It’s simple, accurate, consistent and easy to use. I want to take away a star bc they’re only on droid, and I’m just bitter....but you don’t deserve that. This app is exactly what you’re looking for if you’ve read this far.

★★☆☆☆ I'm sad this app is out of date. Used to be the best, was incredibly reliable pre-pandemic, but it seems like they are no longer keeping it updated. Doesn't even show all trains anymore and there are big refresh issues.

★★☆☆☆ Increasingly glitchy. This app used to be my favorite BART app, due to its simple and clean layout, and BART times down to the second. I could quickly open the app and instantly see all my favorite routes, and how many minutes and seconds until the next train departure. However, this app has had an increasing number of issues. Saved trips disappear, delays are missed, train arrival and departure times are inaccurate, and the notification area gets disconnected from live updates.

★★☆☆☆ This app used to be great. Now it's not as reliable/easy to use. For a while during COVID it only showed direct trains instead of trains with a transfer. Now when you add to your list Station A to Station B it shows you direct trains and trains with transfers, but also lists Station B to Station A trains. If you're not careful you'll show up at the station thinking your train leaves in 3 minutes only to find out that's the train going in the wrong direction and your train leaves in 20 minutes.
