Blippar

You see something that sparks your curiosity. Want to know more? Blipp it.

Blippar enables you to browse the world and instantly unlock relevant real-time information about any object or image, simply by looking at it through the app.

Since 2011 Blippar has made branded images and objects blippable. Now we're going further, using visual search and image recognition technologies to turn everything from cars and cats to books and bananas into interactive portals. We update the app with thousands of new blippable objects regularly.

How to blipp?
1. Get curious about an object, product or image
2. Open the app and scan the whole image, object or product

3. Watch rich digital content appear

Millions of people are already blipping to:

· Discover more about what they are looking at
· Easily buy items or book tickets with direct mobile shopping links.
· Witness thrilling 3D animation using augmented reality

· See magazines and books come to life with videos & extra content
· Watch unique videos and movie trailers
· Play fun and exciting games

· Take pictures using virtual photo booths

· Get exclusive tickets/vouchers/recipes etc.

And instantly share all of these experiences with your friends on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
New content is added and new objects are made blippable every day, so keep checking your in-app catalogue for updated blipps around you - or sign up for updates at blippar.com.

Neat idea but too slow to be useful The theory behind the app is good but it takes too long for the program to recognize an object. It also seems that there's no timeout for objects that are not recognized. I have tried on three devices and neither was useful. It even took almost a full minute to recognize a full page ad that was made just for the app. It would probably work better by analyzing still photos instead of video.
