first direct Banking on the go

To use this first direct Banking on the go App you need to be a first direct customer and registered for first direct Internet Banking.

We know that you like to manage your money when you’re ‘on the go’. That’s why we’ve created this App. It allows you to see and use some of your Internet Banking services more easily on a smaller screen.

Our App allows you to:

• view balances and up to your last 90 transactions

You’ll still need to log on to full Internet Banking at firstdirect.com regularly to access all services. We recommend you do this at least every 14 days. Some of the Internet Banking services that you can only access by logging on at firstdirect.com are:

• full statement information
• details of monthly charges, fees and interest
• sending, receiving and viewing attachments of secure messages•setting up payments to a person or organisation you haven’t paid before
• cancelling or amending a payment you have set up

We don’t charge you for this App, but we can’t say the same for your network provider, who may charge you for downloading and using the App. You’ll be responsible for these charges.

We recommend that you don’t use this App abroad, but if you do, you’ll need to make sure that it’s permitted by local law, and remember your network provider’s charges may be higher.

The App may be withdrawn at any time; we will tell you if this is going to
happen.

It’s important that you only download Apps in accordance with the terms and conditions that you have agreed with Google.

Loving the look and the way it allows access to the services i need at the press of a button, however recent update keeps giving problems with the log on process, it fails to take you on to correct page ... spacing the button on the page might be a good future update !

Awful, awful, awful. Been banking with First Direct for over 15 years however you would think it was a new firm given how amateur the implementations are. The digital key is a total mess that doesn't work (second step send a message to a phone number that I have never had!) and now I am locked out until a code comes through in the mail. I also bank with Santander and Barclays and they are light years AHEAD, which is damming indeed.

Repeatedly crashes at important moment! Got a new phone, and the procedure of moving the app is laughable. So over complicated, so many different codes on both devices, bits by email, bits by text, then when I managed to navigate all this, the app crashed (repeatedly, I've been trying for two days!) when I tried to put in the final activation code. It very briefly flashes up a number keypad which disappears before you can use it, then says the app has stopped. The worst part is, the app is the key to online banking so this screws everything up!

I hate their cumbersome security Horrible looking app and terrible balance between security and usability. They require two different passwords, but both are called Digital Secure Key. Twice the app has failed to recognise either of my passwords and locked me out. It'll be another tedious call to their call centre.

God this is awful Terrible, terrible app designed entirely from a security viewpoint with no thought whatsoever for the user experience. If a retail site created an app this bad they would never sell a single item, however First Direct have all your money so what can you do? Such a shame that a bank which has consistently offered top notch customer service for years should let itself down so badly. Update: now actively shopping for new current account.
