App permissions:
Sky Map has no required permissions. Each permission below is optional — you may refuse any of them and still use the app. Nothing is requested at startup; each is asked for only when you first use the feature that needs it, and each can be withdrawn separately in your device settings.
⭐ Location (optional) — used to draw the sky for where you are. Refuse it and you can enter a place name or coordinates by hand instead. Your location never leaves your device.
⭐ Camera (optional) — used only by through-camera mode, which overlays the sky on the live camera view. Refuse it and every other mode works as normal. The image is never recorded or transmitted.
⭐ Notifications (optional) — used only to tell you about meteor-shower peaks and tonight's sky, if you ask for them. They stay off until you turn them on.

I love this app... it helps me to learn more about stars and planets and even 7 sisters!!! Now I learn more about this app as if it hasn't been updated for a while. I wonder is there anyone I can report to development team to alert them about Mercury where it is at has shown on this sky map app, lands onto Libra star constellation... and I am aware it is in Scorpio star constellation. So I wonder would the development team update this sky map app. I downloaded this app last month (October 2025).

Either the app or my pixel is terrible with the compass. It used to be great.... the fact that it used to have an accurate compass was why this was such a useful app. Now it's just a sky map that I use like a manual map.

Calibration. I can understand if the phone does not have a gyroscope, but this is ridiculous. Tried on 3 different phones all with gyroscopes and the calibration is always "unreliable" and the calibration steps do nothing to made it better. 😑 EDIT: Wow, it only took you 3 years and 4 months to respond......

I've used this app for years. But over the last month(July26). It's been terrible. The app changed and the update has prevented it from finding the correct location or time that the assignments are set. It had the moon below the horizon while I clear have a good view of it on front of me. Whatever happened with the update it has messed up a really good app. I've tried reinstalling, yet it still makes the same mistakes. Nobody will want to use it in its current state.
