I too hastily uninstalled after having some minor problems on my new phone (Samsung S7). I thought I'd find something that works more smoothly but nothing else out there is quite like Apps Organizer. AO will do automatic categorizing but you can customize it too- - easily add new category labels and assign multiple labels to any app. View your apps either alphabetically or by label. Uninstall apps right from the list by long-pressing. You can customize the label icons too. I really like being able to place a folder containing all my app folders (labels, categories, however you want to think of them) right on the desktop, so I can quickly find any app. I guess I'll just keep using it, and hope the dev comes out with an update soon. Five stars when he does!

It used to be 5 stars, but I'm having a problem with my icons since the last update and even uninstalling and re-installing didn't fix it. I've emailed support and they haven't responded. Fix the problem, respond and help, and I'll update back to 5 stars.
