Description
Finally Ports Of Call the classic trade simulation game from the Amiga time made it onto Android devices. We tried to be as close as possible to the orginal (its really the SAME kernel code), in terms of original grafic and behavior. We added some helpful features, as the new joystick control for navigating in the shipsimulator and for the radar collision system. We also added some keyboard support when a keyboard is not available. Save, Load, Help and New is available using the Android MENU item. We tested the game on different devices, also very small ones. The buttons are sometimes small, but you will get used to them, but therefore we were able to use our original grafics with the typical AMIGA look. We provided an intro and tutorial video.
The App supports 10 different languages which can be selected when starting the game (English, French, Netherland, Norwegian, Italien, Spanish, Finish, Swedish, Daenish, Portugais and German). Any suggestions are welcome please write us.
Some hints on comments and the EXIT function of the program. Please use the HOME button to exit the application. We didnt provide an extra EXIT button to terminate the program, as the Android System recommends not to terminate the program ourself instead let do the Android System the termination if necessary. This is to have a full compatible system and keep the OS in a stable condition. We prefere a stable system left to the user instead of doing some hacks on this -- if you really need to kill the App, use the END program function of the Android Application manager, so you dont need to reboot the Phone. Also used in naval schools for education.
features in the last rev 1.4: 1. Backspace also can be used as the OK button, to LOAD the ship in the captains wall and to START or STOP the simulation in the main screen.
2. Buttons - User Interaction. New algorithm for handling all buttons. Now a radius region is searched, which gives a much better response. Better behavior at the border.
3. bug fix for sound not terminating when the program is exit (e.g. paused).
4. Fixed problem with the timeout message and text.

Better than I remember I used to play this on my parents Amiga when I was a kid. This mobile version is a lot faster to load and I find the new joystick when controlling the ship a lot easier to use. Steering the ship around ice burgs and into tricky ports still makes my heart race. Anyone who has played the original version will enjoy this update.

Disappointed, not like the original. Beginner difficulty: - Always the same commodities from each port, only slight variation in tariff. - Tariff too often lower than fuel cost. - Storm, rescue and reef on the same trip, often. One of these is almost guaranteed.

Nice port but buggy Nice port, but annoying bugs are spoiling the fun. 1. Radar emergency while ship in port? 2. Mortgage doesn't seem to be reduced despite paying installments. 2. Cargo and destination lists generated independently, making the choices less fun.

An incredible disappointment I loved this game on the Amiga, so I quickly bought it. As an app, it is horrible. I can tell the authors put almost no effort into converting this game. Standard controls don't work, it's next to impossible to control and the only way to exit it is to force a shutdown. I can see why they only offer a paid version. If you played it first, you would never but it!

Dear Ports Of Call I am a long time POC player. And I just installed the android version. Although I really enjoy the classic version of the game. I think that the game needs a fresh new look especially the home screen. The format or operating system works perfectly. There needs to more modern graphics. And possibly implement the 3d options on smartphones. I'm giving a 1 star until the graphics improve. I feel like im play a Windows 95 game.

Nice to see this great game on Android. But because of the frustrating implementation of the throttle and steering of the ships I would avoid this title. Better get an Amiga emulator and play the original version
