Mindfulness Bell

Mindfulness Bell

The Mindfulness Bell rings periodically during the day, to give you the opportunity to hold on for a moment and consider what you are currently doing, and in what state of mind you are while you are doing it. According to the Zen Buddhist teacher Thich Nhat Hanh, this is an effective means of developing mindfulness.

If you wonder where the "menu button" is: it is the three little dots in the corner of the screen, next to the "back", "home" and "switch apps" button.

Many people have asked for this, so here it is: Two options how to use your bell in a quiet environment, such as at work.

(a) There is now a "Vibrate" option. This does a short-long vibrate pattern -- if you wish, you can interpret this as the morse code for "A", as an abbreviation for "be awake".

(b) It is now possible to turn the volume *real* soft. The bell now supports a dynamic range of 50dB, from the maximum volume to a just audible volume. This should never be too loud.

User reviews of Mindfulness Bell
I have been using Mindfulness Bell for a couple of years now, and it is an important part of my day. The app works perfectly on my Samsung, and the bell sound is beautiful. Just a note - I see a review that says it is not in sync with the clock. This is a deliberate, and very important feature of the app. It's not an hourly chime. It varies slightly from the period you set it at, and that variation is what allows you to notice the chime.

Can't access the menu I had this app on my lucid but just upgraded to the G3. I can't figure out how to access the menu...there aren't any keys or anything to program the bell. I can get the bell to ring but can't program it. :(

Samsung S5 - the app has no menu. Please fix this so I don't have to uninstall. Thanks.

Stop. Reminds me to be present in what I'm doing at the moment.

Almost there Functionality is sufficient. You just can't use it along with any alarm clock. It just keeps resetting the alarm volume to maximum which is the only but significant show stopper. Don't mess with system alarm volume and it will be five stars.

Great simple tool. Love the app. My only complaint would be the option to chime exactly on the hour. Or at least a lot closer to the top of the hour. (Option, I also like the random idea.)
