Mangler

Mangler

From the developers of the first open source version of a Ventrilo client, we present the first unofficial Ventrilo version of the Android client. Mangler is an open source VOIP client capable of connecting to Ventrilo 3.x servers.

The Mangler developers are the ones that worked hard to open up the Ventrilo protocol and allow this software on multiple platforms. Today, we are proud to offer Mangler on the Android platform as well.

The Mangler developer team offers support as best we can (via our website, forums, and IRC) at no cost to our users. Our software is completely open source and we welcome any changes and improvements to provide a better experience.

An app with potential rendered essentially useless When it works, this app is great. The trouble is there's 2 major flaws which render it nearly useless. (1) Constant crashing. Literally crashing dozens of times per day with moderate use. I've been submitting crash reports every time for months now. Last app update was in 2011. The dev is gone. (2) Cannot stay connected for more than 10 minutes reliably before it disconnects from the server and it has no option to auto-reconnect. Even when on a solid wifi connection it will silently disconnect all the time. Sometimes it disconnects and shows the server list again. Other times it shows you're connected but the user list is blank and you're really not. Other times it shows the user list as if you are connected but when you go to speak it shows and error message and you find you're not really connected anymore. This is over wifi too, using it on a cellular connection where it would need to auto-reconnect every few minutes as the signal strength fluctuates is completely impossible.

Best Vent alternative! I installed this app so I could find a way to never miss important events on Ventrilo again whenever I have to go afk. Now, I can stick my tablet or phone in my pocket walk through the house or go out into the backyard and never miss out. My only complaint with this app is that there is no easy way to close/terminate it, app must be 'forced stopped' from within 'application manager'.

NICE Perfact app! Nothing better than communicating with the World of Warcraft while you're AFK
