Radiolab

Radiolab

Radiolab is a show about wonder, curiosity and big ideas. Hailed by critics as “best radio show,” Radiolab presents a potent elixir of science and philosophy, first-person storytelling and radio theatre, all woven together with the most innovative sound design to ever spill out of the radio. Hosted by Jad Abumrad and Robert Krulwich and produced by WNYC, the show is heard on more than 300 public radio stations around the country.

The Radiolab app is all about curiosity, too. More than just a companion to the broadcast, the app is an extension of the Radiolab experience and its spirit of exploration, possibility and play.

App needs serious work, show is AMAZING I am addicted to the show so it's hard to rate the app low, but the app needs serious work. It is very glitchy, stops streaming mid cast without a place holder, and does not always allow you to download off line.

It has issues such as about 2/3's of the time, you have to force close it when you're done. I have been living with that, but now it's not downloading episodes anymore. It's disrupting my afternoon walks with the dogs.

I love Radiolab, but hate this app. This app is just beyond beyond useless: there is no audio scrubber, you can't bookmark where you are listening and come back, if you stream an episode and you loose connection it restarts from the beginning of the episode, if you try to download an episode there is no indication of when it has started and what progress there is and how much is left, and worst of all - you cannot quite the app with out going to your running processes and force killing the process. For as much time and attention and detail, and love and editorial oversight goes into the production of the episodes, it is clear that nobody involved in the show actually had anything to do with this app, or they would have been profoundly embarrassed at how badly it tarnishes their show and brand.

This app is an abomination. It is almost unknowably bad. You literally can not quit it without forcing a stop or disabling it in settings. I don't understand how the producers of such a great show tolerate an app that delivers it so poorly. It would really be better to take it off the market than to infuriate admirers in this way. Whenever I am tempted to contribute to the show all I have to do is think about this app. If I knew who created it and got paid for it I would sick Buster on him.

Radiolab, you guys can do better! I love love love radiolab but this app is terrible. The interface complicated, but what's worse is that it continues running until you manually stop the app. It's very frustrating. It's disappointing that the creators of such an ingenious podcast can't manage to make an app that does it justice.
