The new app is significantly better than the old app. The old app crashed all the time. This one does not. The old app would hang frequently. This new app does not. The new app appears to use a new map that is much more detailed than the open maps/Google Maps used previously. I will update this later with more information.

App just stopped working, no bus lines, buses, or stops are available in the app.

It's horrible, the only thing it does well is tell you something is wrong and refresh to try again. I haven't been able to look up stops, bus lines, or plan a trip. The old app, as buggy as it could be, at least worked and told me when my bus was coming. I can't do anything with the new app even after giving it all permissions

I used to love this app, even when it was buggy. Alas, the upgrade requires me to have my location beacon on whenever I use it. Since my policy is to leave Google location snooping off unless absolutely necessary, I can't use this AC Transit app. If you could adjust this, so it functions without the requirement of the location beacon, I'd happily go back to using this, and upgrade my rating (which otherwise would be a 5).
